I guess it started with a little something called the Domain.
And idea of a community and a nation of people of different paths and beliefs, colors and preferences, who all believe in the existence and the hope of magick. It's been a slow go of it for the years that have ticked since 2001,... but it is a success in many ways. In the end, it's all about doing a fair share of helping to guide the magickal community into a little more cohesion: where we can act like the community we claim to be.
While doing this, a business was being cultivated on the side, geared towards the magickal community.
It began with a webdesign business called Shadows WebDesign: started by two Shadows who eventually drifted apart. One went her way,... while the other carried on with the business, making webpages on the side and little more than that. Truth be told, the business was around long before the Domain,... but it was only with the advent of the Domain that it got its practice in.
As time progressed, a few other projects and business ventures happened around here and there. Some were creative, in the forging of jewlery and magickal implements. Others selling items that could be geared towards a talismanic nature. While still others offered a little of everything that lay under star and sky, so to speak. In the end, there were a lot of irons in the fire that were meant to benefit the magickal community fiancially and materially. Just another business doing its part.
It came to a point then when it was thought:... Why not bring all of these under one umbrella?
As symbology lies at the core of anything I do, I had to make sure that the emblem for this new business had meaning and purpose. It was then that I was reminded of one of the main things that motivated the Domain:... the pursuit of dreams. Part of that inspiration came from a place known as the Dreaming: where the Fae originated. The Dreaming has three areas: the Near - that which is closest to our world, the Far - that which is a little farther, and the Deep - that which is farthest and seemingly unreachable. It is in the Deep Dreaming, it is said, that all of our deepest and strongest dreams and hopes can be found, among other things. As it is my dream not only to provide a good life for myself and my family, but also benefit the magickal community, I named this idea, Deep Dreaming.
As for the symbol, I knew what I had in mind. Finding images or pictures to adequately represent it, was another task. A blessing came in the discovery of a background I discovered online. A background in themes and shapes of blue, and near the center, seeming to walk into these images of magick and dreams, the shape of a desert nomad walking through a circular portal into the unknown.I cut the circular part out, modified a background of stars I already hand, and superimposed the man in the portal upon it. with him walking down a hill or dune into the Deep Dreaming, to find and achieve his dreams. And aside him in the air, a sun, a moon, and three stars: to guide his way. The Wanderer. and so the journey begins...
While begun with a purpose similar to that of the Domain, Deep Dreaming is an entity independant of the Domain. While its functions will benefit the Domain, Deep Dreaming and its divisions - Shadows WebDesign, Talismanic, Fo Reannan agus Aer, SilverWire Forge, and Winterstream Designs - and subsidiary - The Domain Store - will also work towards being a benefit to the magickal community. Small steps...
