Rest and Be Thankful
Seven miles Southeast of Bailey, Colorado, in the Pike National Forest
Eastern Divisia
"This is a freehold/glade of great importance in my life. It's a small piece of land in the middle of the Pike National Forest in Colorado, about 7 miles outside of a village called Bailey. There are approximately 3.5 acres of heavily forested land with a small creek running through it. There is a hand-built cabin on it, too. The cabin and surrounding outbuildings were built by my daughter's great-grandfather in the early 1950's. The cabin is a five-room A-frame with timbered walls, hewn from pine trees that were cleared to make room for the house. There is a large hearth in the main living area of the cabin that was formed of rocks cleared from the land as well. The land itself is dotted with blue spruces, Scotch pines, quaking aspens, fireweed, mariposa lilies, columbines, St. Anne's lace, shooting star orchids, aconite, Indian paintbrush, wild sweet peas and Dead Man's Vine. The fauna is equally abundant - bears, bob cats, raccoons, skunks, mule deer, wild! turkeys, 3 different types of hummingbirds, chickadees, Stellar's jays, blue jays, camp robbers and juncos are regular visitors. This is my favourite place to go and unwind. I can decompress, recharge and reconnect with Nature. There is something truly magical about the energy of the land." - Lady Dame FionaBrigit ni NicLeoid, ruler of Cibola(submitted 7/18/05, 4:13PM CST)

Riverboat Pier and Marina
Riverboat Pier(Saugatuck, Michigan)
Aquaterra
"... the pier in Saugatuck Michigan. This is actually on a river. There's a little Marina where there is a ship that is stuck permanently in the river. I always seemed to take people up there to discuss magical and mystical things or to start romances." - Lord Solace Boheme, ruler of Aquaterra

Saguaro National Park
2-3 miles East of the Cibolan court of Caer NicLeoid(Tuscon, Arizona)
Cibola
This unique desert is home to the most recognizable cactus in the world, the majestic saguaro. Visitors of all ages are fascinated and enchanted by these desert giants, especially their many interesting and complex interrelationships with other desert life. Saguaro cacti provide their sweet fruits to hungry desert animals. They also provide homes to a variety of birds, such as the Harris’ hawk, Gila woodpecker and the tiny elf owl. Yet, the saguaro requires other desert plants for its very survival. During the first few years of a very long life, a young saguaro needs the shade and protection of a nurse plant such as the palo verde tree. With an average life span of 150 years, a mature saguaro may grow to a height of 50 feet and weigh over 10 tons. While most visitors to Saguaro National Park choose a leisurely drive on one of our scenic loop drives, those eager for an escape from the rigors of city life often opt to explore the park on one of our many trails. With over 150 miles of hiking trails, ranging from flat and easy strolls in the Sonoran Desert to steep and rugged hikes into the Rincon Mountains, visitors of every ability have a place to get out of the car and explore. - information researched and provided by Lady Dame FionaBrigit ni NicLeoid, ruler of Cibola

Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site
Cornish, New Hampshire
Cascade
Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site consists of 150 acres including the home, gardens and studios of Augustus Saint-Gaudens (1848-1907), one of America's foremost sculptors. This was his summer residence from 1885-1897, and his permanent home from 1900 until his death in 1907. There are two hiking trails that explore the park's natural areas. - information researched and provided by Lady Dame FionaBrigit ni NicLeoid, ruler of Cibola

Salem West
Caer Columbus(Columbus, Ohio)
Snake Mound
"It's a pagan shop called Salem West(owned by AJ Drew). It's where I got my pentacle, and where I know I'll be frequenting once I move over." - Wolf Brother ap DarkFyre, former citizen and ruler of Remal

San Juan National Historic Park
San Juan Island, Washington
Astoria
Orca whales and bald eagles abound here, as do more than 200 species of birds navigating the Pacific flyway. But the park was created in 1966 based upon an idea: that individuals and nations can solve their problems peacefully without resorting to violence. For it was here in 1859 that the United States and Great Britain nearly went to war over a pig shot by an American farmer. Actually, it was a bit more complicated than that.
Pressures had been building between the two nations over possession of the San Juan Island group since 1846 when the Treaty of Oregon left ownership unclear. Thus came the "Pig War" crisis, at the height of which more than 500 U.S. Army soldiers and three British warships were nose to nose on the island's southern shore, not 10 miles from Victoria, BC. Fortunately, officials on both sides quickly restored calm and the nations agreed to a joint military occupation of the island until the boundary could be decided.
The American soldiers and British Royal Marines remained for 12 years until Kaiser Wilhelm I of Germany, as arbitrator, awarded the islands to the United States. Today the park is an excellent place to hike, picnic, play on the beach, experience wildlife and enjoy a wealth of programming, including the summer living history events.

Seal Beach
La Jolla Shores
Caer Rose Valley(San Diego, California)
Pacifica
"You can walk down to the sand area from the cliffs aboveand just sit and watch the seals. It's especially nice this time of year because there are lots and losts of baby seals. The city has put up posts and a small fence to keep you from encrouching on the poor seals' home but it's still a nice place to sit and remind yourself that there is beauty in everyday things." - Faerie, former Domani and ruler of Pacifica

The Secret Garden
3829 Mayfield Road
Jackson, Wisconsin 53037
(262)677-3231
The Dells
Coming upon the Secret Garden is like coming to the journey's end of a long adventure. Barely a mile from "civilization, it's tucked away in such a place and such a way, you'd think that you had gone a hundred miles instead of ten or thirty. And once you go inside, you'll think you had gone farther still for a place that is well worth the journey.
The Garden is four rooms full of virtually everything. Native American, Buddhist, new age, pagan, faerie, stones, jewelry, and everything else inbetween it seems. The Lady of the Garden herself is a master reiki practitioner. The entire place has the fear of a sanctuary. It's peaceful, and that peace seems to emanate from the lady herself. And be careful. If you strike up a conversation, you're likely to end up forgetting time for a bit. Not that that's a terrible thing at all.
So if in Jackson, the best way to find the Garden is to take a wind down Tillie Lake Road, and don't stray from it. You'll find the Garden along the way.

Shenandoah National Park
4-5 miles North by Northeast of Waynesboro, Virginia
FairyStone
Shenandoah National Park lies astride a beautiful section of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which form the eastern rampart of the Appalachian Mountains between Pennsylvania and Georgia. The Shenandoah River flows through the valley to the west, with Massanutten Mountain, 40 miles long, standing between the river's north and south forks. The rolling Piedmont country lies to the east of the park. Skyline Drive, a 105-mile road that winds along the crest of the mountains through the length of the park, provides vistas of the spectacular landscape to east and west. The park holds more than 500 miles of trails, including 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Trails may follow a ridge crest, or they may lead to high places with panoramic views or to waterfalls in deep canyons. Many animals, including deer, black bears, and wild turkeys, flourish among the rich growth of an oak-hickory forest.
In season, bushes and wildflowers bloom along the Drive and trails and fill the open spaces. Apple trees, stone foundations, and cemeteries are reminders of the families who once called this place home. Shenandoah National Park has many stories waiting to be told, and a world of beauty that can renew and bring peace to the spirit.

Shiloh National Cemetery
Shiloh and Hurley, Tennessee
Sil Magra
In July 1862, Congress passed legislation giving the President of the United States the authority to purchase land for the establishment of cemeteries "for the soldiers who shall die in the service of their country." This legislation effectively began the National Cemetery system.
Shiloh National Cemetery was established in 1866 and has more than 3,500 Union graves. In 1933 responsibility of the cemetery was transferred from the War Department to the National Park Service.

The "Shopping Center"
Caer Landmark(Marquette, Michigan), in the Stronghold of the Scarred Lands(Marquette, Ishpeming, and Negaunee, Michigan)
Snowdonia
"The 'shopping center' is actually several stores situated next to one another in the same building: with doors connecting one to the other. One store is a place for knicknacks, souvenirs, and the like. Walk in the back and through a small hallway, and you're in a wide room filled with unique and beautiful furniture situated in such a way, that you'd expect the Fae to have an all-night party there were you to sneak in at night after closing. Walk through one door from there, and and you're in a leather shop, where they sell everything from cowboy boots to leather trenchcoats. Another door, and you're in a place where you can find what you need for flooring for your home: from tile to stone to carpet to wood. Take a sort of a turn back the way you came towards the knicknack store, and you'll find a lamp store on the other side of the wall from the knicknacks: with lamps and candlesnuffers of various kinds. Take a left through a doorway, and you'll find yourself in another furniture store: this one feeling a little more eclectic and aristocratic in nature, but no less magickal." - ShadowDarkFyre the LordVengeance, ur-Lord of the Domain and Realms.

The Snow Queen's Freehold
Five miles of Dynamite Hill Road
Caer SnowCrystal, Snowdonia(L'Anse, Baraga, and Bovine, Michigan)
"Taking up a length of approximately five miles: centering on Dynamite Hill Road itself, the Snow Queen's Freehold is where Snowaidene the Snow Queen watches over and rules the realm of Snowdonia. A freehold in that it is inhabited, and a glade in that it is mostly nature, its borders beginning just after the first rise of Dynamite Hill, where the entire Freehold sits atop the whole of the Hill itself.
The Road runs in a perfectly straight line fron East to West, except at a crossroads where it curves to the North for a point, before curving back towards the East. There are two farms situated on either side of the Road: one inhabited, the other abandoned, but both obviously enchanted to those who can feel it. Other people have their homes amid the woods, forests and groves of trees that are signature of the Freehold, not to mention all of Snowdonia.
The Snow Queen's Manorhouse, and the twenty acres of land it sits on, occupies the very top of Dynamite Hill. The back ten acres are completely wooded. The front ten acres are divided. The Manorhouse sits on the Western half, surrounded by trees and foilage. A wishing well sits along a copse of trees, and is only a few steps from an old barn. The Eastern half is the Snowdonian Royal Apple Orchard that occupies half of the hilltop. The Imperial Pets - Ghost DarkFyre: a Husky/Shepherd, Queenie: a white kitten, and Simone: an elder cat and matriarch of the pets - died and have their resting places in the Orchard, around and near the Moonstoone that marks the top of the Hill. Their spirits roam and guard the Orchard to this day. Two of the more notable aspects of the Freehold itself are those that cannae' be seen. One is that the Manorhouse is haunted by a Wraith who has watched over House and Hill before the Domain was founded. The other is that a ley line runs parallel to Dynamite Hill Road, on its Northern side. But because of the veer of the road to the North and then back towards the East, it crosses the road and runs on its Southern side, thus running through the twenty acres of the Manorhouse: directly under the Manorhouse itself, the wishing well, and the Moonstone.
The driveway leading up from the road curves Southward onto the acreage, leading to the Manorhouse. Across the Road from the driveway, is Pinery Road, which runs in a straight line North. The Imperium has named this "crossroads" CompassPoint: so that anyone who is lost will always be able to find their direction home."

Trap Pond State Park
Laurel, Delaware
Cascade
Freshwater wetlands once covered a large portion of southwestern Sussex County. Trap Pond State Park retains a part of the swamp's original beauty and mystery, and features the northernmost natural stand of baldcypress trees in the United States. The pond was created in the late 1700's to power a sawmill during the harvest of large baldcypress from the area. The Federal Government later purchased the pond and surrounding farmland during the 1930's and the Civilian Conservation Corps began to develop the area for recreation. Trap Pond became one of Delaware's first state parks in 1951. Visitors have many opportunities to explore the natural beauty of the wetland forest. Hiking trails surround the pond, providing opportunities to glimpse native animal species and many flowering plants. Birdwatching is a popular activity and the observant hiker may spot a great blue heron, owl, hummingbird, warbler, bald eagle or the elusive pileated woodpecker. - information researched and provided by Lady Dame FionaBrigit ni NicLeoid, ruler of Cibola
